Manicures and pedicures are my monthly luxuries. There is something about having freshly scrubbed feet painted with a shiny color which feels so therapeutic. Even in university, I used to schedule a mani-pedi as a post-finals stress buster.
One of the advantages of Dubai is the numerous number of nail salons with a vast bouquet of services available. In general, a mani-pedi combo will set you back somewhere between AED 120-140 not including tip. If your budget is a little smaller, try heading to the smaller, multi-purpose salons in Karama or Satwa.
This month I decided to head over to N.Bar in Palm Strip, Jumeirah. I chose N.Bar because they are having their Dirham Diva promotion. For AED 350 you get a voucher that entitles you to:
- 2 manicure-pedicure combos (2 x 140 = 280)
- 2 polish changes (2 x 30 = 60)
- 2 head, neck, and shoulder massages (2 x 65 = 130)
- 1 eye brow shaping (40)
The normal cost of all these treatments would be AED 510 so it’s definitely a great deal. You can purchase the vouchers from 1st March – 30th April 2011 and the voucher is valid for 6 months from the date of purchase.
The girls at N.Bar are quick and efficient and they have a great selection of Essie colors. The only downside is that unlike N Style (that plays Friends or Seinfeld episodes), you have to entertain yourself with magazines or just relax.
Dollz Tip: If you are in a rush, splurge on the Essie Quick Drying Drops for only AED 5. Your manicure will be smudge/dent proof within seconds.
As a side note, N.Bar is the only retailer of Deborah Lippmann polishes in Dubai. If you are a polish junkie, you MUST try these out. Check out this space for a detailed review soon.
My boss thinks female engineers shouldn’t bother with girlie things like getting nails done. I highly disagree with him so decided to go with an extremely girly fuchsia creme I could find: Essie’s Exotic Liras. Like it?
