This is our weekly section, Tuesday Tip. No matter where you work, Tuesdays tend to be the dullest day of the week. So to combat the general “meh”-ness, we bring to you a quick tip to perk up your day!

Tuesday Tip – Issue 5 – Food for Face

I’m a thorough foodie and while I gym with the excuse of losing weight, I mainly go so I can indulge in more delcious things.  That being said, every so often food makes a detour from my mouth to my face.

I love the idea of facials but I find it very weird to have foreign hands massaging my face and I prefer to take matters into my own hands.

You can find face masks by almost all beauty brands but my favorites have to be the Fresh Face Masks at Lush. These are specially whipped up in store from fresh ingredients.  So far I’ve loved Oatfix and Love Lettuce but there is a whole list of others to try. Even our very own Bebo from Bollywood indulges in at-home face masks:

If you are feeling a little adventurous, why not whip up your own face mask from the kitchen. We’ve collected a couple of recipes to try but feel free to experiment. After all, natural is always better! Just remember that fresh masks don’t keep very long so try to mix together small quantities or use up quickly.

Flower Petal Facial
Great for fatigued skin and promotes cell renewal 

  • 2 tablespoons yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons rose water
  • 1 tablespoon lavender honey
  • 2 tablespoons dried, lightly shredded rose petals and lavender flowers

Mix ingredients together. Lightly pat mixture onto face and rinse after 20 minutes.

Banana-and-Honey Mask
Good for sensitive and dry complexions 

  • 1/2 mashed banana
  • 1/4 cup oatmeal, cooked with milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tablespoon honey

Mix ingredients together. Massage onto face in a slow, circular motion and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse with tepid water.

Strawberry-and-Buttermilk Facial
Strawberries soften the skin and cool inflammation 

  • 4 to 6 mashed strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons rose water
  • 1 tablespoon powdered rose hips

Mix ingredients together. Apply to face, neck and hands, gently massaging, then resting for 15 to 20 minutes. As the mixture dries, skin will feel slightly taut. Rinse and pat dry.
