Valentine’s Day – à la Dubai

12 Feb

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner.  Some of you have probably been planning how to celebrate this day for months and some are probably still struggling with surmounting expectations.

Well, if you happen to be in Dubai (and your budget allows) the Burj Al Arab is offering a spectacular V-Day package for a measly Dhs. 6000 (USD 1600).  Highlights include:

  • One night’s stay in a deluxe suite with breakfast and dinner included
  • Complementary car service in a luxury BMW 7 series (or a Rolls Royce for a tad extra)
  • Personal butler who shall prepare you a bath
  • Spa treatment for both of you
  • Champagne service
  • Tickets to the Wild Wadi water park (not sure if this meshes into the whole V-Day theme but we don’t mind)

Surprisingly, this isn’t even the most decadent V-Day option in Dubai.  The Burj Khalifa gives you a higher option (altitude and price-wise) for a VIP dinner at the world’s highest observation deck.  You get to have a private fine dinning experience for starting price of Dhs. 10,000 (USD 2700).

Now any girl would appreciate such gestures but it definitely isn’t required.  When it doubt, keep it simple.  Get her a bouquet of roses and have a nice romantic dinner (bonus points if you do the cooking).  Then end the night with a walk on the beach or hit a lounge.  My pick this year would have to be The Jetty Lounge at the One&Only, Royal Mirage.  This is a gorgeous beach lounge with a fabulous atmosphere.  Waiters are attentive but not pushy and there are plenty of tasty drink options (including non-alcoholic).   Most importantly this bar has so far remained undiscovered by Dubai residents and it’s always easy to get seated. Pictures don’t do justice to this place so do check it out!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
